Don't ask me. I've never asked anyone to kill my mother—
[ But oh. ]
Oh.
Well that's entirely different. Sure, of course. When? Now? Are you talking about swiftly rising floodwaters or the slow deterioration [ he reads, he knows words ] of your culture orrr...
[ Does she want to know? Signs point to: absolutely not. She clears her throat loudly instead. ]
While the cultural deterioration is certainly an issue, and I'd be happy to accept any solutions to it you happen to be keeping in your back pocket, that isn't what my focus is on, for now. The Keeper, and my clan, have gotten trapped by some rifts. They can kill the demons, but without a way to seal the rift, more continue to appear. They can't move the noncombatants, nor the halla and the aravels. And they're worryingly close to a village. We've traded with the village before, and relations are...decent. They've made no threats, but the sooner my clan can leave, the better for everyone.
And, ah. We don't really have a lot of warriors. So your addition would be welcome.
I changed my mind, you're insufferable. [ She says, fondly. ]
But, seriously. I would appreciate it, though it is certainly not required. I just--Returning to the clan will be, ah. Well. It will be nice to have friends. [ If just to witness her last will and testament before her mother shames her into the next world. ]

...And I think the Keeper would like you.
