PERSONALITY
Beleth strives to be found friendly, courteous, and easy to get along with. She favors diplomacy and building potential allies, and will try to build and maintain bridges with other people. She often holds her own counsel, and if she doesn't think an argument or a sharp word would be worth the trouble it might cause, she might keep it to herself. Not to say that she's a complete pushover, and isn't afraid to share her opinion if she deems it worth the trouble, but she is a careful speaker and mindful of her words. You never know when someone might be helpful, and if she deems that she wants the person to be an ally, she will observe them and try to discern how best to accomplish that.
You don't lead a successful Inquisition without a little plotting, and Beleth employed a great deal of plotting. Her decisions were made with care, delicacy, and a surprising underhandedness. She let Empress Celene die, because she let the alienage burn, and Beleth put Gaspard on the throne, with Briala to blackmail him into submission. She fully, wholly embraced being the Herald of Andraste -- Not because she believed a word of it, but because she is ever mindful of advantages available to her, and being seen as a religious icon to the religious organization holding the reins was useful. She is a Dalish, with a full and fervent love for her people, and had once considered herself quite religious (though...that didn't age well), and she thought that tying Andraste to a Dalish would be an aid to her people. Maybe people would be less willing to commit atrocities against the Dalish if they knew Andraste was keen on one.
Additionally, she wanted to give other people something to hope for. Every time someone looked at her and asked if she was really sent by the Maker, Beleth saw someone who needed hope, who needed to believe that their god was with them. So, Beleth became what she needed to be, what the people around her needed her to be. Her self-sacrificial nature didn't begin and end with trying to throw a mountain over her and Corypheus--Beleth is a person who will do what is needed, and become who others need her to be. Solas may have been her one selfish indulgence -- one that she can't deny herself, even now.

Appearance
5'3 . purple eyes . dark auburn hairLavellan is an average height for a female elf from Thedas, though slightly shorter than a normal human female. Her build is willowy, with long, lean limbs, speed favored over raw power. Her hair is a dark auburn, that looks brown in darker lighting, and redder in direct sun, and stops just above her shoulders, in loose curls that Lavellan spends a great deal of time maintaining, lest they become a messy bird's nest. Her face is delicate, soft and round, with freckles that spread across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose, and she wears carefully applied makeup more often than not. Her eyes are a vivid, almost surprising shade of purple, and like all elves, will reflect light in the darkness. Her ears poke out of her hair, long and pointed as is customary for elves, and can have various jewelry in them, should the occasion call for it. Her outfit is normally one designed for both practicality and appearance, to flatter her without giving up too much movement and comfort, and she almost always prefers shades of dark green and brown.
Beleth was born as the younger of twins, to an elf of Clan Lavellan, a Dalish clan within the Free Marches. While her elder brother awakened as a mage and was trained as the clan's Second, Beleth, with no magic to her name, became a Hunter. It was a fairly average upbringing, as Dalish upbringings go, and she likely would have continued to live the life of an ordinary Dalish, had the Conclave not happened. Her Keeper had thought to send her Second to the Conclave to observe the happenings. Knowing her brother's sharp temper and fearing how he would conflict with the shemlen, Beleth begged her Keeper to let her go in his stead. She agreed, and Beleth departed.
While in the Conclave, Beleth heard a cry for help, and went to investigate. There, she found Corypheus, a blighted Magister, trying to sacrifice the leader of the Chantry. She moved to intervene, kicking off the events of The Inquisition.
[BELETH'S WORLD STATE AND DECISIONS]
A year after the Breach was closed, Beleth went through the events of Tresspasser, where she lost her arm, confronted her former lover, and vowed to save him from himself. She ended up letting the Chantry absorb the Inquisition into a smaller military group, wary of both the dangers of a large standing army, and of not having any task force able to handle the coming troubles.
Spoilers for Veilguard
She sent Varric out to find people to track down Solas, which would eventually lead to the events of Veilguard -- though she only had minimal participation in the events, receiving updates while busy combating the blight that had taken over much of southern Thedas. She popped in to occasionally offer advice, and receive advice in turn, until the time came to confront Elgar'nan and Solas--her former god and her former lover. She aided in the fighting alongside her advisor Morrigan, and her former companion Dorian, until it came time to confront Solas.
She, alongside Rook, Morrigan, and a fragment of Mythal, held counsel and a lively debate with Solas, where Beleth forgave Solas for his actions against her, and begged him to end his attempt to sunder the Veil. The four of them together managed to convince him to turn aside from his path, and he declared that he would take his leave, to atone for his actions. Beleth declared she would leave with him, and the two left into the Fade together.
